6th through 8th Graders
(Confirmation Instruction)

Our Confirmation curriculum is Colaborate.  Units include Old Testament, Lutheran History & Catechism, New Testament, and Lutheran Living.  This series encourages Hands-on Investigative Learning, Intriquing Questions, In-Depth Infographics, and much more.  Students will engage with others and with God.

Visit:  http://www.wearesparkhouse.org

Our confirmation program is multi-faceted. A large part of the program is participation in 7 retreats throughout the school year. See below for upcoming dates.

6th-8th grade Teachers:  Camille Steinberger
                                     Becky Young

In addition to these retreats, content will be covered in Sunday morning Sunday school class.  This year, we will be combining youth in grades 6-8 for classroom studies.  We are aware that perfect attendance is not possible for some individuals due to family situations. Materials will be provided to those students who need to miss a class in order to help them keep up with the entire class. Retreats cannot be “made-up” however and, every attempt should be made to attend all of the retreats.

Sunday One-day Retreats  (at Advent)

March 26, 2017 1-7pm
April 30, 2017  1-7pm

Weekend Reteats (Friday through Sunday)

Sunday school offering

The collected offering will be designated to support Hannah’s Home Ministry this year.  Along with or instead of monetary donations, we will also encourage the youth to donate baby items (ie: diapers, baby bottles, pacifiers, rattles, receiving blankets, etc.)    What does it mean to serve others; what does it mean to give out of love.

Jesus said, “I give you a new commandment: love one another.  As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.”  John 13:34

1 Corinthians 4:14-15 –
Spiritual Parents
Daily Devotional Bible Verse
I do not write these things to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For
I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
(1 Corinthians 4:14-15 ESV)

I was recently listening to sports talk radio and they were discussing the athletes who are gifted and talented that get into college/professional sports and do stupid things outside of the sport. They might get into fights, do drugs, or get in trouble with the wrong crowd. The sports talk host said that there is one thing that almost all of these athletes have in common. They don’t have a father figure or authority figure over them to sit them down and say, “You are embarrassing us and yourself. Stop this and start acting like the person you should be.”.

Just as those athletes need a father in their lives, so do we as Christians. Paul told the church in Corinth that he was their spiritual father. He was there to admonish them and help them to be the people God wanted them to be. Do you have someone in your life who can speak truth to you when you mess up? We aren’t talking about a pastor standing behind a pulpit preaching to you. We are talking about a person who knows what is really going on in your life. It can be difficult to open up to a person about your failures, and even more difficult to give them permission to correct you. Ask God to show you who you can give permission to do this for you in your life and humbly come before them asking for their guidance.

Who is your spiritual father/mother?
